Government of Canada Invests in Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity to Enhance Operations

The Government of Canada has announced a federal investment to support the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in upgrading its customer management systems and improving visitor services.

On September 24, 2026, the Government of Canada announced a federal investment of $194,949 under the Prairies Performing Arts Initiative to help the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity transition to a single customer relationship management (CRM) system. This funding is intended to replace legacy systems and streamline the Centre’s operations.

The new CRM system will allow visitors to access memberships, subscriptions, bundled ticket packages with accommodations and meals, donor advance sales, exclusive benefits, and merchandise for the first time. These improvements are designed to enhance the customer experience and make it easier for visitors to purchase tickets and use services.

This project is part of a broader effort to support the sustainability and growth of performing arts organizations across the Prairies, including Alberta. Performing arts organizations contribute to vibrant communities by bringing people together, attracting visitors, supporting local jobs, and creating shared cultural experiences.

The investment aligns with the Government of Canada’s plan to build infrastructure that strengthens the country’s economy and cultural sectors for current and future generations. By optimizing operations at the Banff Centre, the government aims to support both the arts community and the regional economy.

The announcement was made by the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan). The funding is expected to strengthen Banff Centre’s role in a resilient economy and improve visitor engagement through modernized systems.

Why it matters

This investment supports the modernization of the Banff Centre’s operations, improving visitor experiences and enabling new service offerings. It also contributes to the sustainability of performing arts organizations in the Prairies, which play a key role in community development, tourism, and local employment. The project reflects the federal government’s commitment to strengthening cultural infrastructure and economic resilience in the region.
