The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, located on Toronto’s waterfront, opened the film program Owner of a Lonely Heart on October 24, 2026. Running until March 21, 2027, the program showcases recent works by Haig Aivazian, Stephanie Comilang, Alia Farid, Hope Pearl Strickland, and Yuyan Wang.
This 80-minute moving image program is curated to complement the gallery’s fall 2026 exhibition season and is presented in partnership with The Vega Foundation. The works explore entanglement as a condition of contemporary life, highlighting complex relationships between raw materials, labourers, ecosystems, and global economies.
The program transforms the gallery’s second-floor space into a continuous theatre where the film loops throughout visiting hours. Admission to The Power Plant is free, supporting its mission to share inspiring and transformative contemporary art experiences with the public.
As Canada’s leading public gallery devoted to contemporary art, The Power Plant continues to provide a vital forum for creative culture and critical conversations. Owner of a Lonely Heart adds a cinematic dimension to the gallery’s offerings, inviting audiences to engage with pressing global themes through innovative artistic practices.
Visitors can experience this unique film program alongside the gallery’s other exhibitions and public programs during the fall and winter months of 2026–2027.
